On the 21st of March, 2006, exactly 6 years back, Jack Dorsey tweeted the first ever tweet on Twitter. A very simple sentence you could barely read, Twitter has since then turned to be a very popular instant messaging system that lets users send brief text messages up to 140 characters in length to a list of followers. It has become the favorite social networking service of celebrities all around the world.
Gone are the days of stability issues, it’s now a thing of the past, although the issue of spam still exist, Ask any movie star: How can I reach you? and you’ll likely get follow me on Twitter, twitter has become very popular, it (twitter.com) is currently the 9th most visited website in the world according to alexa, a website that ranks millions of websites based on their popularity.
Messages can be sent and received via cellphone text messaging (SMS), twitter only allows you to send 140 characters to your followers through the Twitter Web site or a third-party Twitter application. To follow a Twitter feed, the Twitter site and feed name become the URL; for example, you can have Bill Gates Twitter feed as www.twitter.com/billgates

The Question everyone is asking is this, Will Twitter ever go public? if so, when? will they be acquired by Tech giants like Microsoft, Apple or Google? By the way Twitter has just reached 140 million active users which I think is highly remarkable for a 6 year old company
