2012 Sunday Times Rich List – Spotify Guru on the List

Sunday Times has just released their 2012 rich list, Daniel Ek, the founder of , the online music streaming service has made it onto the Sunday Time Rich List for 2012, with an estimated worth of £190 million, according to report by the Telegraph, Ek is the highest new entry on a music millionaires Rich List with a personal fortune of £190 million, That puts the music streaming guru on a level footing with Mick Jagger of  The Rolling Stone and David and Victoria Beckham, amassing wealth that took Jagger 68 years in just 29, interesting

Ek is from Sweden but made his way onto the UK list this time around as part of his working year is now spent in Spotify’s London offices, his main office is in Stockholm. Ek founded Spotify in 2006, Spotify is a music streaming service offering digitally restricted streaming of selected music from a range of major and independent record labels that includes Sony, EMI, Warner Music Group, and Universal, it now has three million paying subscribers, having launched in the US last year.

Spotify is valued at £1.2 billion and Ek’s stake is worth £190 million – equivalent to the fortunes of Sir Mick and the Beckhams. Spotify allows registered users to integrate their account with existing Facebook and Twitter accounts. Facebook integration is compulsory for new accounts. Once a user integrates their Spotify account with other social media profiles, they are able to access their friends’ favorite music and or playlists

The Sunday Times includes Ek on the British list for the first time because he is based for part of the time in London. His main office is in Stockholm. Forbes magazines has branded Ek “the most important man in music”
